Oregon Contractor License Requirements

Any job in construction where money changes hand requires registration with the Oregon Construction Contractors Board.

The following trades require a contractor license:

Electrician's Licenses

The Division issues thirteen (13) version of the electrical contractor license.

  • General Supervising Electrician
  • General Journeyman
  • Limited Supervising Electrician
  • Limited Journeyman Manufacturing Plant
  • Limited Energy Technician Class A
Limited Energy Technician Class B
  • Limited Maintenance Electrician
  • Limited Residential Electrician
  • Limited Journeyman Sign Electrician
  • Limited Journeyman Stage Electrician
  • Limited Building Maintenance Electrician
  • Limited Renewable Energy Technician
  • Limited Maintenance Manufactured Structures

No exams are required for a electrical contractor's license but a licensed person is needed in a company to sign for electrical permits.

Plumber's Licenses

Anyone doing plumbing work in Oregon has to register with:

  • Oregon Construction Contractors Board
  • Oregon Department of Consumer & Business Services

The Building Codes Division issues the following plumbing licenses:

  • Journeyman Plumber
  • Solar Heating And Cooling Installer
  • Residential Water-Heater Installer
  • Water Treatment Installer
