Texture your walls and ceiling first, if you do install crown molding you will have to cover them 100% ti keep the texture off.

Have a happy home improvement project.

When I texture the walls and ceiling, do I need to tape off the area where the crown molding is going to go or just put the molding over the texture?

If you are installing crown moulding on a wall that still needs texture. You have to have your crown in place first, or at least a template up that will keep the area from being unable to install crown on a smooth finish.

I would paint my moulding twice first, then install and tape the edges of my crown and the texture.

This info may be a little late but maybe it will help the next person with the same dilema.
