How to remove weatherproofing from concrete?

We had brick planters that were built on each side of our front door when the house was built 40 years ago. One slab of brick from the front of one planter toppled over and we decided to remove both brick planters so it would look proportionate but now we have black gunk on the concrete on each side of our door making our house an eyesore. How do I go about removing it?

Thank you for your time,

Juliet

You can try pressure washing but i don't think that will remove it.. So i would use muriatic acid. Wear gloves of course and pour this on areas where needs to be removed. Let the acid sit until loosens. Before washing off neutralize with vinegar first. This will prevent any greenery from being affected.

Good luck,
