Hello everyone! I want to remodel my kitchen but I'm working on a tight budget of about $8,000. The kitchen is small, about 12x15. I would like to replace all cabinets and counter tops...preferably marble or something that looks like marble. I would like to also replace the existing hardwood floor with ceramic tiles. I think all this requires more money but I was hoping someone could prove me wrong and make some suggestions that could save me some money. If not, then I guess I'll have to wait till I can save more.
Just curious if that 8,000 budget includes appliances too...You can save money on countertops by searching boneyard pcs and doing a drop in sink as opposed to an undermount type. There are so many choices on less expensive cabinetry...You can skimp on drawer construction, and order wood skins to make your cabinets look like they are much more expensive. Ceiling height makes a big difference in what you do also. Try to keep top of cabinets at 84" and add a simple crown moulding. Lots of the cabinets are designed with a back bevel on the door design and do not always require handles. Something you could always add later, I feel there is much possibility in doing a kitchen cabinet remodel for 8000.00
good luck

Well, that was January and here it is July. I hope that you have found a contractor who is willing to remodel your kitchen on an $8000 budget. If not, then I have a few questions for you. Does that budget include materials or do you have an extra budget for that? We can re-tile your floors, install some new cabinets, re-do your counters and even add a custom backsplash for about $7,300. One suggestion to go with instead of straight marble is to go with a marble tile. There are more possibilities on designs when installing and it would be less expensive as you would not need to pay somebody to fabricate it for you. And cabinets are a dime a dozen....You can go with recycled cabinets and patch them up...You will save tons on materials, but will probably have to pay a little extra in labor, but your costs would still be less....I am not sure where you are located or if you are still in need of services, but just in case, our email is lnl.flooring@yahoo.com---Feel free to ask any questions.
When it comes to remodeling your home, there are a lot of ways you can save money. It is best to invest in good quality materials, but you should talk to a contractor about the best places to purchase materials in your area. Some companies will offer better deals than others.
