What tools would you recommend that any homeowner purchase--even if they aren't planning on doing major work themselves? I'm looking for a sort of basic menu of tools that will be useful and come in handy. This can include yard tools, too.

I also had the same question once before this forum came along. I researched and finally settled on these 15 -

Toolbox

Hammer

Pry bar

Vise-grips

Needle-nose pliers

Screwdrivers (mixed set)

Wire cutter/stripper

Tape measure (16 foot)

Electrical tester

Reversible drill with bit set

1/2 inch steel chisel

Utility knife

Handsaw

9-inch torpedo level

Safety glasses

This should cost you anything between $200-$250 I think. I got mine 4 years back and some from the flea market.
