Before you buy you pesticide spray for the year consider some natural ways to keep the pests away. Believe it or not most plants have buddies who will protect them from things that want to eat them.

1. Marigolds: If you plant marigolds in with your tomato plants the insects will beat a path around them. They do not like marigolds. And you have the added advantage of having flower blossoms, as well.

2. Rosemary: Strawberries attract insects because they lie so low to the ground. It's easy for crawling ones to hop on and have a feast. But if you plant it with rosemary. The creepy crawlies will avoid the strawberries.

3. Sweet Basil: Sweet basil is also a good buddy for green onions. Like tomatoes onions have the same water requirement as sweet basil. f you want something that tastes good to be your tomatoes' bodyguard then opt for sweet basil. Not only will they scare away insects they are great in the same pot because basil and tomatoes have the same water requirement.

4. Cinnamon: Ground cinnamon sprinkled around the perimeter of your garden pot or flower bed the ants will be kept out of the area.

5. Lady Bugs: The eternal aphid killer you can buy lady bugs from certain garden stores. Once they find a great crop of aphids they will stay and feast until they are all gone.

6. Sage: Plant sage with almost any plant as all insects hate it.

7. Garlic: Also a great repellent for aphids and beetles.

Going natural is always the best policy. This prevents any god microbes, that assist the plant, from being destroyed with the bad insects.
