We just bought a new house--which is great for us, considering that it's a buyer's market. There's been a lot of talk in the news about housing going down, and I know in some parts of the country home sales have pretty much screeched to a halt.
I live in a city that has a remarkably steady housing market, and I'm interested to know how things are going in other parts of the country; not just from the news--but from the people living there.
Anyone here in the process of selling a house? Or anyone have a report on the market in your area?
It is indeed a buyer's market... which presents quite a problem for those needing to sell one place and buy another.
To answer your question, we had no trouble buying and although there are nightmare stories about selling, we're hoping that the sale of the other house will be fast.
There's a bit of a stress wondering if it would be better to wait for the bubble to break, but... no one knows how long that will be.
I live in a seasonal seashore town that has some pricey real estate. But there has been so much new construction that a lot of projects aren't being completed, and you can get a house or condo for much cheaper than you normally would. It is definitely not the time to sell my house, but I'm considering doing so when the market rises again which I don't think is going to be for a few more years.
