Has anyone ever used the online services of companies to help you sell your house on your own by posting it on their site? Or, has anyone tried selling their home own their own by posting ads in local papers? We are considering selling our home after we finish some minor home improvements and are debating on if we hire a realtor or sell it ourselves to save the commission fees. We are in no hurry to sell, so time is not an issue. Thanks for your feedback!
Hi there,
I may be a bit bias because my wife is a Realtor, but there is a ton of knowledge and risk associated with buying and selling real estate, not to mention the energy and cost involved with marketing your home. A few years ago, I would have tried to sell my home on my own, but know that it is such a strong buyers market, I think it's worth considering a real estate professional. Check out all your resources and shop around if you decide to sell with an agent (or with assistance from a limited service agency too). Good luck!
I've been online for about 14 years now, but there are some things I still don't fully "trust" to do online. Two of those things are banking and real estate.
So to answer your question... no, we won't be using an online entity to sell. Funny as that sounds, we *did* find our current home online, but it was through a local agent's ad, not an "online realtor" per se.
I don't think I'd buy from an owner... maybe it's just a quirk, but realtors have guidelines that I think a homeowner might be able to circumvent.
I am not a realtor - dont see why there would be a problem if you have a home inspection done & have an attorney review the paperwork before you sign.
