Laminate flooring is pretty tough and, for the most part, can take almost every type of wear and tear. There are are times, however, when a piece gets nicked in a corner or a heavy object is dropped and a piece gets cracked.
The first order of business is to locate another piece - either a spare or from a closet area. Now find the nearest baseboard to the damaged piece and pry it off as this holds the flooring in place. Lift the edge pieces and pull them off until you get to the damaged piece and remove it. Be patient!
Start putting the floor back together remembering to tighten it up as you go. But save the spare piece until last because, not being in use, it may be a slightly brighter hue. Replace the baseboard. You won't miss the closet piece.
