I'm assuming this is a electric garage door, in that case look on the motor and get the manufactures name and model number. Go on computer and get instruction booklet, it will tell you where and how to make adjustments on the motor. If this is not a electric garage opener, most likely you will have to replace the springs.

Check your garage door for "balance" half-way on manual operation. The door should sit balanced against the pull of the springs when half opened & on manual operations.

Check the Open Limit Adjustment on the Garage Door Opener, refer to the owners manual for this adjustment.
