Shower Alternatives

I wonder if someone has some ideas for me. I want to redo my master bathroom. I want to do something different for the shower surround. I've done enough tile work lately to last me a while. I don't want one of those cheap surrounds you get at Lowes. Is there some kind of material one can use and actually paint the walls in the shower? I want something unique even though no one else really uses that bathroom. Any ideas or suggestions you have will be appreciated.

Thanks!

I have a wonderful idea!!! Have you ever considered concrete? I am a contractor producing beautiful concrete surrounds for showers, bathtubs and vanities made completely out of colored concrete!!! They have an appearence of expensive marble without the high price of marble!! Let me know what you think

Concrete sounds like a good alternative. I suppose one could have it fabricated with tiles or color to soften the industrial look..

I would definitely be waterproof!

Go for a glass shower door. It can take a bathroom design that's plain and ordinary and make it incredible. And almost endless designs are available with patterned and unpatterned varieties. It makes the bathroom look really chic.

Your bathroom tiles can set the tone for the whole space and it will definitely make it look better. A dynamic flooring pattern or a deep wall color can make the difference as you remodel your bathroom. Use the softening effect of warm-colored tiles to offset the cool looks of fixtures.

I recently bought a house that had colored concrete master bathroom. The previous owners had painted it a tasteful neutral color and the photos of it look wonderful. The reality is - it's slippery and it scares me!
