I had a company come in to reface my cabinets, paint, do a subway tile backsplash, etc..after already being a little disappointed with the lack of pride some people take in their work I was even more let down and shocked to come home from work and find that my brand new white carrera marble counters(installed by another company) looked like they were used as a cutting board when the cabinet/tile company installed the backsplash, they never covered the counters and that was on top of putting the tile in how they wanted and telling me that they thought that was what we wanted...(they stacked them instead of a bricklay pattern like subway tile usually is). As for the backsplash they said they would have to charge to change it at this point...whatever..I will live with it for now, but they did say they would pay for the counter repair and to just deduct it from the balance owed..my question is since not all the damage is able to be fixed with obvious dips in the marble should a additional discount in the balance be given?? hoping for some quick responses and the one that did the damage is anxious for his $. Thanks.
Hello Karen,
don't pay the balance, tell them you want the countertop and backsplash replaced properly and if necessary, sue them for the amount to fix this. it is the contractiors responsibility to find out how the tile was to be laid and have it writing. you are not responsible for somoe elses mistake!
