The contractor who remodeled our bathroom left the floor tiles uneven. The tiles are uneven making the floor look unattractive. We suspect that this occurred because the contractor did not lay all the tiles at once. He laid several pieces a day over more than a week. The tile is natural finish porcelain tile.

Can that be fixed? How? Likely cost?

Hi Susan,

Without seeing the floor this is a tough question and there could be a few reasons why they are uneven.

1. Did he lay down backer board or cement board?

2. If he did it in stages chances are there was some tile adhesive that had already dried from the first time he ruled and he did not clean and scrape enough before starting to tile again.

3. different amounts of adhesive -areas have either too much or too little adhesive.

Remedy -re do the floor, chances are if he was that sloppy'll probably have tiles coming loose in a few months anyway.

Good luck,
