1.Pot Filler: This ingenious device is actually a cold water tap installed in the backsplash. The purpose is to get water into large pots which cannot be adequately filled in a regular-sized sink. Putting in a deep sink is expensive and requires countertop and cabinet changes. A pot filler takes a plumber maybe 2 hours to install depending on the location of the water source.
2.Undersink Cabinet Tray: Placed under the sink plumbing this tray holds water and protects the cabinets and floor below if there is a plumbing malfunction.
3.Self-Closing Drawers: When you slam a drawer the self-closing apparatus only lets it goes so far before a dampening system pulls it closed. There is no noise and no chipping of the drawer faces.
4. Under-Cabinet Drawers: Once popular in the 1970's these conveniences are coming back to hold spices and other utensils for quick use.
5. Full Extension Drawers: Pots are not longer stacked and shoved back into the lower cabinets. The kitchenware cabinet is being replaced with full-extension drawers which means that every pot has its place and can be accessed easily.
6. Corner Cabinet Accessories: For those hard-to-reach, lower corner areas a new version of the Lazy Susan is bringing cereal boxes and flour to the the light of day making a pantry out of space that used to be inaccessible.
7. Cabinet Lighting: LED lighting in the lower cabinets makes searching for items easier. They operate when the door is opened and shut off when the door closes.
I've also seen these great spice holders for smaller kitchens. They pull out like a long and skinny cabinet, and have all of your spices ready to grab.
Another good time saves are those magnetic knife racks. If you're an avid cook, you probably use your knife many times per dish, and having all of your knives handy and within reach is excellent. Plus you can see which one you're grabbing as opposed to having them in knife blocks.
These are good kitchen time savers you have here. Thank you for sharing these information with all of us. We do have full extension drawers and I find them really functional and practical to use.
I really like number 3, the self-closing drawers. I think I saw something like it a Ikea and really liked the concept. I wonder if there is something like it for cabinet doors?
These are some great tips! I think it's important to think about things like this before having a kitchen built. You can set up your layout and plumbing as appropriate. For example, I put two sinks in my kitchen. One is for washing dishes and the other for preparing food. It's a great luxury.
