We are remodeling a bathroom. When we took out tub, drywall and insulation wall was very wet in spots. Can't figure out what caused the wall to be wet. Very wet in spots.
What is causing the wall to be wet? Looks like it is recent because there is no mold or rotting of wood. It is on an exterior wall.
In most cases it is usually the venting. If a bathroom does not have a good venting system chances are the steam will just seep in to the walls and ceiling. You need to get the steam out of that room to the outside, not the attic, that will cause another problem. Also check and make sure there are no pin holes or loose fittings in your plumbing work, this is another possibility. The last possibility may be a slight roof leak, check all the flashing and penetrations to make sure they are water tight, check the faciar boards to make sure no water is getting behind that going on to your soffit then making its way in to the house. Hope this helps. Good Luck!
