This does not include the complaint I will be filing.
As a house inspector I had no issues with him or his quality of work whatsoever.
Once I had hired him to do work on my condo the problems began. A job that should
have taken a week maximum took 2 months.
He hired an unreliable unqualified person to paint a 800 square foot home, and the
hired help ended up doing a very poor job and half way through skipping out. Don was
very hard to get a hold of during these two months due to several different personal
issues going on in his life that left the job I hired him for neglected. I understood and
was very patient with him. He told me he would not be paying the painter, therfor not to
pay him. I felt that it was fair to pay him for materials,(I thought he was a really great guy
and felt sorry for him) we agreed I would not be paying labor for paint. He then sent in
another guy who did not complete the job (cleaning up the last painters mess) and they
had to come back yet again. During all of this, Don failed to call me and update me,
and didnt return any of my calls.
Bottom line is, Don is great if you have a lot of patience and understanding for him and
his issues, but when he billed me, I had questions about what I was being billed for
(not what we agreed upon) asked him to call me, he wouldn't. Not unlike the two
months of rarely being able to get him on the phone, or have him return calls.
So now he is demanding his money (which I will pay to finally be done with the whole
mess) ignoring my requests to discuss the bill, and is now threatening to put a lien on
my house.
He is unprofessional, does not return phone calls promptly if at all, hires unqualified
and unreliable help, and has too many personal issues going on his life that interfere
with his business.
If you want fast reliable service with excellent communication throughout the whole
process from start to finish, do not hire him. You will be sorry. In the end regardless of
how poor service you recieved, what you may have agreed upon, he will have the final
say and it wont be open for discussion.
Upon further research, it seems one of his
"customer references" is also doing billing/collections for him. My account is now
being handled by a "happy customer" of his.
The other "happy customer" handles all his emails.
Wow, that happens to alot of customers these days. I get a lot of calls to go by and clean up another contractors mess. This kind of treatment to clients makes us look bad when trying to market ourselves. We let our quality and references speak for themselves.
Well I payed him and it is settled.
As a customer, I feel good communication is a MUST.
