I'm wanting to get my home improvement license. Not contractors license. I cant find anything about a test I would need to take. I found out how to get a test just not whats in the test its self. Please help! Im trying to do what I need to look and be as professional as possible!

Hi.

I don't know how it works in other states but in NY, to get a Home imporvement contractor licence you have to go to a department of public affairs (DPA). This is the department that issues such licences.

If you go to their website and researche home improvement licence you schould be able to find a basic information on what you need to know for the exam. The exam is very bsic and very simple. If you'd been working in the field for some time you schuld pass it without even studying.

Before you even go there you allready have to have liability insurance, workers comp unless you are exempt and legal company or DBA name. If you have all that you are ready to get your licence.

In PA you need to contact the state attorney general and get a home improvement contractor license.
