A Tough Situation

I am pulling my hair out!

I have a pergola in my shady backyard. I would love to find some vining plants that flower, decorating the pergola with splashes of color in the warmer months.

Unfortunately, I live in Colorado and it is difficult to find a shade loving, flowering vine that is hardy at my zone, but there has to be at least one!

Where would I look to find plants that would serve my purposes without sorting through every plant known to North America?

If you know your zone, you're halfway there Lydia. Have you tried asking at your local garden center? They'd probably give you the best advice of all.

Online, there's a great tool at HGTV called the Gardening Zone Finder where you can just put in your zip code and it gives you planting ideas for different categories - vines is one of them. Let us know how you get on!
