We have a 800 sq ft kitchen, mudroom, and garage being put onto a 1990s house. Our contractor has been slowly working on it since last Oct and we paid him the installment for rough in about a month ago. The subfloor has been on for over 2 months now and the roof is still not shingled, only has tar paper, and has gotten wet constantly. I understand that the floors can withstand the weather for awhile....but we had record rains in the month of May with almost 4 straight weeks of rain. We were away on a business trip for the month and most work stopped completely, and now we've been back for over 3.5 weeks and still haven't had anyone on the job site. There are large puddles on the floors and they look swollen and warped in areas.
We asked our GC about it and he said it's not ideal, but it will be ok. That was a week ago (our first meeting in 6 weeks) and today when I stopped by, there is still a large, semi-oily puddle about 10 x 14 in the middle of the floor...even though we haven't had any rain for over 4 days.
I'm looking for advice about when to push a little harder and when to trust our GC on floor conditions and also general timing on work schedule.
Thanks for any advice.
