Check with the County Clerk or City Clerk where you have a customer.

If there is a license requirement they will tell you and give you direction. Also, there is a good chance you will need a permit. Do not be afraid to do this it is for your protection, the customers and the public. We pay taxes to support this procedure.

This will be of benefit to you in the long run. And if you have a customer that ask you to break the law it would tip you off that you might no get paid. You would have a limited chance to collect your money.

Check with your state contractor requirements. Washington registor of contractors.

In arizona you need to have four years of superintendent experience first to qualify whither signature backing from employers or coworkers. With bonding, businesses licence, & contractors license fees.

Check with the registor of contractors. Their should be schools for contractor license that would help with all that as well.

You can call your local building and zoning department in you county. They may even test there as for they did in mine.
