We hired a contractor to build our house the price they gave us we agreed on but when the issue of bringing the lagoon up to code came in they said the would do it but would have to cut some things to stay in budget, which was fine until the house plans and the actual house is two different houses and we ended up doing the upgrades and work to the lagoon our selves and with about 15,000.00 in savings from the changes of the house they still want what was agreed on the origanal house not to mention the appraisal was only 3,000.00 over what they are charging us.
I also did not mention that we already had the groundwork, foundation and rough plumming done before they started that was around 20,000.00 out of our pocket so if you take that and the price for the house they a charging us it was well below the appraisal
So my question is do we still live up to our part of the contract even though the contract was for a different structural house?
Sounds like it is time to talk to a lawyer. Personaly myself I would have had you sign a new contract if the design to the orginal home changed that much.
