Complaint:
We contracted with Mark Seibel as Tri City Maintenance to complete a major renovation and addition to our house with a fixed price of $181,740. Mark estimated the project would take 6 months. To date we have paid him $296,000, and the project has taken 18 months. We estimate it will cost $65,000 and take an additional 3 months to complete the renovation. Mark has stopped sending workers and has not responded to repeated attempts to contact him. In addition:
The town inspector failed the rough-in inspection because the foundation had not been inspected before concrete was poured.
The electrical rough-in inspection failed multiple times because he had unlicensed electricians perform portions of the work.
The electrical inspector threatened to cancel our Certificate of Occupancy and force us to move out because Mark left exposed electrical connections hanging over the bed.
Mark installed the basement flooring without a moisture barrier, which voided the warranty. He has refused to replace the floor.
Mark does residential construction (MAS Enterprises), Handyman Services (Tri City Maintenance), Real Estate (Carolina Premier Realty), maybe some others. I contracted with TCM to do a renovation and addition on my house in chapel hill. His estimate was $180K - he ultimately charged me over $300K. He never finished the job and walked away from it. I would be cautious doing business with Mark or any of his companies.
