I hired Willie Latimore to paint my upper and lower kitchen cabinets. The day we spoke about the job and agreed on a reasonable price, he stated he would bring "a two man crew," to get the job done "in a few hours."
The day he was scheduled to start, he arrived two and a half hours late, and ALONE. All he had with him was a gallon of paint, one paint brush and a drop cloth. He said he was late because he "had to take his son to the barber shop and ran a little late." He also stated that "the guy" (not the crew) who was supposed to come with him was "still at the barber shop," so he'd be starting the job alone. I left the kitchen for a while to let him get situated. When I came back to take a look, he had started painting one of my cabinet doors WHILE THEY WERE STILL HUNG! I stopped him and asked, "Why are you painting wood cabinets without priming them first, and why are you painting the doors while they're still hanging?" Obviously I was concerned for the hardware - it's really difficult if not impossible to paint cabinet doors properly when they're still hanging without getting paint on the hardware. He told me that he didn't use painters tape because he didn't need to. His exact words were, "I don't need to use tape because I'm just that good." Look at the pictures below of his work - you be the judge. Then he said, "I don't need to prime the cabinets first because there's primer in this paint." From that moment I should have escorted him out of my house, but I didn't. I gave him a chance because the price was right. I told him he needed to remove my cabinet doors AND all the hardware first before he can paint them. Sadly my husband and I ended up removing all the doors (20) and the hardware then labeled each door and corresponding hinge while he leaned across my island counter top and watched. He proceeded to paint the cabinet boxes (exterior only thank God), only to realize he hadn't cleaned them first. I had to stop him again, showing him the greasy crud on some of the cabinets that had to be removed. He pulled out a bottle of degreaser and started to clean and prep the surfaces.
He spent a total of 4 1/2 hours cleaning and applying the first coat to the cabinet boxes, but didn't finish nor even start the first coat on other surfaces. The first coat dried cracked on one cabinet and its molding, likely because he didn't clean the surface. His words were, "I don't know what that's about, but I'll take care of it tomorrow when I come back to finish. I'll sand it down and reapply the paint." Right before he left we agreed that he would take my cabinet doors back to "the shop" to "clean them and use the sprayer to paint them evenly." It's been two weeks since then and he hasn't been back to my house to complete his unfinished, sloppy work. Look at the pictures - do the doors look sprayed?
Well the next day came which was a Sunday, and he never showed up. We rescheduled for him to return the following weekend. That weekend came and went and of course, he never showed up, never called.
Finally I texted and called him to arrange to get my cabinet doors back because at that point I had had enough of his games. My husband and I met him at a work site where he was painting the entire first floor of someone's townhouse. He insisted that we see the job he was doing for his client, as if to convince us that he did good work, worthy of every penny he charged. We were less than impressed to say the least.
He didn't get the total amount that we agreed upon, and he certainly didn't do work equal to what he was paid in deposit. SLOPPY WORK! I'll be finishing my cabinet
Willie and his so called crew came and painted my house they left a mess and never came back to fix it also he came up with some lame excuse about needing the money up front so he could purchase material he did a horrible job I could have done it I just wanted to be able to rest knowing I didn't have to do it and charged me $2,000 I didn't have. He's a thief and a cheat this was my first time buying my house after my divorce and he ruined my happy experience.
DO NOT hire this man! He does terrible work and then lies and lies to you about coming to fix this mess. My six year old could have done a better job! After spending 450 dollars to paint one room, I am going to have to go buy paint and redo the whole room myself. One thing I got from this is DO IT YOURSELF. I will never hire anyone for anything again!!!
We put our work in writing and when completed we are paid .
So if we were paid then it was not an issue if the job calls for additional work then it additional cost
Do not trust this man.he do not finish his and will not come back after he is paid.taking him to small claim court.
Does not any grounds to take me to court for any unfinished work The Right to repair act prevents reviews like this if it is any
Issues then they must send you a certified letter stating what the issues are and ask how you will correct it
