Shettler Construction

Janet and Dennis Shettler were very difficult to deal with. In fact, we still don't have a copy of the signed contract from the start of the project. We don't have a finalized itemized bill for the build. We were just presented with a final number that they demanded we pay before we even had a final occupancy.

Janet made it a point to tell me I was not allowed to talk to any of her contractors. She always wants to talk on the phone and not do any business over text or email, for what I can only assume so nothing is written down. We got very little input into the design of our kitchen. When we wanted to change some things, it turned into a large ordeal.

The tile work is atrocious in the kitchen and on the fireplace. We picked out some large format 24X48 tile for the fireplace. They were cut with an angle grinder and the cuts were not cleaned up with a diamond pad to make the cut look clean. If they were unable to install the tile, I would have picked out something else. But I was told they would figure it out.

We have to replace three exterior door frames from a botched lockset installation. Most of the doors in the house have inconstant gaps and don't close properly.

The first night were in the home we wanted to use the fireplace. We turned it on and didn't realize the blower controller was not plugged in. The face of the tile got so hot it cracked a 24X48 tile in two spots.
