Rick was recommended to us by a relative who is a supplier of materials for Rick. Although Rick's title is "Design Builder", we never had anything designed by him. The work he did came off of our sketches and played by ear. Rick tore out walls to open up the existing old home's walls. He did a good job, but 2 new interior door passages he made are not square and doors do not close. He was asked to fix the doors hung on those passages so they would close, but that never happened. Rick never would formally put anything in writing (except his billing) and therefore, if something was done to our dissatisfaction or not done at all, he would say we never told him about it. Used that one phrase a lot!!! Rick gave me 2 choices of persons to pick my cabinetry from, instead of letting me choose where I wanted to go and brand I would choose. He agreed to install the Kitchen and 3 Bathroom cabinets for the same price as I had gotten a quote from a 3rd and closer cabinet company that was even cheaper in their quote. Unfortunately, to keep the peace, I ordered the cabinets from the gal he likes doing business with. Rick never did finish putting on all the hardware or adjusting all cabinet doors/drawers to close properly and charged us $1200 OVER the verbal agreed install amount he promised to do it for. Many things were done wrong or not at all as to what had been told to him what we wanted. He abandoned work left to be done (unfinished electrical, unfinished plumbing, unfinished carpentry work). In 11 months of Rick working under a contract signed by my husband and I, he should have been able to build a brand new home faster than this remodel project we hired him for. Don't expect to get what you want. Rick likes to make choices for you and always has an excuse for everything that goes wrong. Rick cancelled the building permit after a dispute with my husband as to paying the monthly draw owed to Rick. The money has always been sent to Rick through a wire transfer to his account with his company name on it. This last request for a draw, Rick wanted it sent IMMEDIATELY to a Green Dot Card. Our financial institution Fraud Dept. advised us not to send it there as we would have no proof of paying to Richard L. Niemietz Inc. the company we are contracted with. Our contract stated we have 5 days to send the money to his business account. Since that is where we sent the money and disregarded Rick's request to send elsewhere, he blew up, canceled our building permit, pulled the painter off the job that was incomplete, but the money owed the painter had already been prepaid prior to him even starting the job. We have been cheated out of money and cheated out of work that was to be completed.
