In 2002, after serving in the United States Marine Corps as Presidential security at HMX-1 in Quantico, VA., Andrew Dobbins left the Corps and entered the world of air conditioning and heating. The Corps had impressed upon Andrew a great appreciation for attention to detail and processes which benefited him as he excelled in the fields of product differentiation, heat load engineering, system customization, system design and estimation. Over the next several years Andrew became very proficient in all aspects of residential system design and accrued several different certifications including EPA certification, Building Performance Institute Building Analyst certification, heat load certification and others which finally culminated in Andrew attaining his Arizona Registrar of Contractors CR39 residential and commercial HVAC license.
In 2009 Andrew partnered with a gentleman who was a third generation heating and cooling expert. After 3 years of wonderful growth, Andrew sold his half of the business to his partner and ventured out to begin his own company, Intelligent Design. The very first order of business for Intelligent Design was to hire the most qualified HVAC General Manager available who shared Andrew s appreciation for detail, process and doing things the correct way.
Today Intelligent Design employs 45 people year round and works from their new property which was purchased in 2013. Each lead installer for Intelligent Design has at least 10 years experience and every service technician is N.A.T.E. certified while every design specialist has their BPI certification.
