We hired DW after getting a reasonable estimate for our project to add a couple windows and a new 2nd floor space to our home. At first, they were quick to demo and lay out initial structural work, then things slowed significantly. our 3-4 week project became something that 3.5 months later is still not complete, and has significant quality and workmanship issues, like our master bedroom, bath, and closet having almost 10 degree temp difference from the rest of the house since they took a 12" trunk line, added 4 90 deg angles and spliced in a 3" flex duct in the middle to get around a window hole instead of running a proper duct, even after we begged them to do it differently and were willing to pay the difference in labor.
When there was a drain line and the HVAC duct in the wall (which was only after removing the drywall 2 weeks into the project, even though those things are readily visible in the crawl space) they told us they can't keep the original planned window size due to the systems interference, and wanted to omit the windows altogether from the project. Since that was what we cared about the most, we spent a couple days trying to pose different ideas (including to use the blocked-out and empty space less than 18" away to reroute systems, but instead they chose to cut corners, and reduce the window size to only 25 inches wide (these were supposed to be view windows of the valley and sound and were 36" as ordered).
After I brought up the HVAC temp issues, they told me it was because my system is probably undersized now that they added the additional floor space. This is not only incorrect, but just plain illogical as the volume of the home didn't change one bit. They also pulled up my existing carpet and pad to protect it from getting dirty, but then the pad has holes all over from where it was stapled to the subfloor prior. all they did was flop it back into place and tell me "they didn't do carpet". Then why would someone rip out an existing furnishing?!? The new sub floor the put in isn't level either, and also didn't transition to the existing sub floor smoothly, with .3-.5" height differences all around. drywall repair was very poor as well, with terrible texture application that they tried painting "just to see how bad it really was". over all, very dissatisfied with the craftsmanship, and when they said they were "done" and demanded payment in full, we tried to explain and list the items we felt needed to be addressed first. Their reaction was to become immediately irate, and pressure and try bully us by filing a collections lawsuit not even 12 hours later.
They seem only out to get cash any way possible, and clearly have no interest in quality, customer service, or integrity. Still trying to stand up for ourselves in litigation here, but HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!
