Looking to smooth a stucco wall. Can it be done by mudding over it?

It was an external wall but now the wall is in a four seasons room.

I have been told it will not adhere to the wall, but others say no problem!

Yes you can Mud over it, It take a couple of times though, as long as this area is not aceptible to water and high humidity from rain. Do a skim coat first to fill the voids up to the top of the existing texure and then after this coat dries completly aply a second coat to smooth it out. Either leave it smooth or add your spray texure to match your home. Paint with primer and the color of your choice.
