Can't answer that question as we are in Texas.

Here the answer is no licience ...how ever there many subdivisions that require a permit to work, solicit or canvas for anything.

The best answer would be check with the code inforcement.

I know in california you do not need a license to be a handyman.

Anything specific you do will most likely require a permit, which some states only give out to licensed contractors.

If its small jobs im sure you can get away with it without getting a licensed. Big jobs like bathroom remodeling/kitchen remodeling you will have to pull permits.

For fixing a leaking faucet or installing pergo flooring you will be fine without it.

Yes, and it's really easy to get.

You would have to get licensed with DPOR as a Class"C" contractor, and there are a few hoops to jump through.

Good luck!

Yes you need a license. Unlike other states, Virgina rates your class. An "A" rated contractor has done the most volume in sales while a "C" rated would have much less.

In my opinion I think that Virginia has is right, For example if you are an "A" rated company with 20 years expierience and over a million in sales...and you submit a proposal for an addition for $50,000 and a "C" rated contractor bids the same job at $40,000, it will be the sole discression of the home owner to choose wheather they want to hire the "C" rated contractor at the lower price or the "A" rated company who has completed much of the same type of work over the years.
